STANDARDIZED TEST SCORES
Our 9th grade takes the ACT Explore test each year. This preliminary ACT test has a score range of 1 to 25 (versus the ACT test which has a score range of 1 to 36). The average scores for our 9th grade class for the 2012 test are shown in the chart below. The average Composite Score for our 9th grade class was 24. Over half of the students in the class achieved the maximum Composite Score of 25. All 9th grade students had a national percentile ranking above 90%. The average national percentile ranking for the class was 98%.

Our 1st through 8th grades take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills each year. The Iowa Test assesses student progress in key academic areas. The chart below shows Covenant's scores for the 2012 Iowa Test for the “Percentile Rank of Average Standard Scores: National School Norms”. This score compares the average score of each class at Covenant with the average scores of classes at the same grade level in the nation. As shown in the chart, the average Core Total and average Composite scores of each Covenant class were higher than the average Core Total and average Composite scores of 96% or greater of classes at the same grade level in the nation.

NATIONAL LATIN EXAM RESULTS
Covenant’s Upper School students participated in the National Latin Exam in February 2012. Sponsored each year by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, the exam is taken by over 150,000 students from the U.S. and twelve other countries. The majority of students taking the National Latin Exam are in high school, since that is when many students begin their study of Latin. A smaller number of middle school and college students also take the exam.
Covenant's 6th grade students took the Introduction to Latin exam, which assumes knowledge equivalent to high school introductory Latin courses. Eight students in the class received scores in the highest category of Outstanding and received ribbons.
Covenant's 7th and 8th grade students took the Latin I and Latin II exams, respectively, which assume knowledge equivalent to college elementary Latin courses. Awards were:

Mitchell Brunner – Maxima Cum Laude (Silver Medal)
Laurel Bacote, Andrew Kotecki, and Landon Hershey – Magna Cum Laude

Latin II
Luke Perrin – Magna Cum Laude
Cerina Myong – Cum Laude
Covenant’s freshman students took the Latin III exam, which assumes knowledge equivalent to college intermediate Latin courses, and the Latin III Prose exam, which assumes extensive experience in reading authentic Latin literature. Awards were:
